Could Bermuda ever ban social media for children under 16?
It’s a question that might be on some people’s minds, as countries like Australia move to restrict youth access to social media and the UK considers similar measures.
The discussion comes amid growing concern over adolescent mental health. A 2023 study by researcher Daniel Cavanagh et al. found that, out of more than 2,500 adolescents in Bermuda who self-reported symptoms of depression and anxiety – nearly one-third showed signs of moderate to severe depression.
