Spine & Sport claim vital win in high-stakes rink battle

The spotlight turned to the foot of the table in the latest round of the Bermuda Ball Hockey league, as Spine & Sport delivered a clinical performance to overcome BDA Spirits in a 4–2 victory. In what was the sole fixture of the evening at the PCC Hockey Rink, the result marked a significant turnaround for the seventh-place side.

Spine & Sport asserted their authority from the opening whistle, with Johnny Talbot emerging as the standout figure. Finding the net in the first period, Talbot gave his side a narrow lead heading into the initial interval.

The second period saw Spine & Sport pull away in decisive fashion. Talbot grabbed his second of the night before teammates Ryan Bates and Cole Haggett added further strikes to silence the Spirits’ bench. The three-goal surge in the middle frame left BDA Spirits with a mountain to climb as they struggled to breach a resolute defensive unit.

Refusing to concede without a fight, BDA Spirits mounted a spirited comeback in the final period. Ryan Marshall emerged as the primary threat for the chasing side, striking twice in quick succession to reduce the deficit and inject late tension into the proceedings.

Despite the late surge in pressure, Spine & Sport held firm during the closing minutes to secure the points and move within striking distance of their rivals in the standings.
