Should insurance premiums be regulated, in manner akin to BELCO tariffs?
Shadow Finance Minister, Dr Douglas De Couto, suggests we are getting to that point.
The OBA MP cites the impact of insurer consolidation, such as a recent move by merged entity Allshores to restrict certain prescriptions to one pharmacy chain.
He suggests such market dominance is evidence that insurance premiums – health, home and auto – should be regulated. This is also a proposal within the OBA’s 2026 Reply to the Budget.
