Bermuda’s track stars shine as Montverde Academy triumphs in Orlando

Bermudian athletes Miles Outerbridge, Arima Turner, and Amaris Munya delivered a series of clinical performances at The First Academy Royal Invitational in Orlando, propelling their Montverde Academy teammates to the top of the podium. The meet saw the Eagles girls’ squad capture the overall team championship in a field of seven, while the boys’ team secured a solid fourth-place finish.

Outerbridge was the standout performer in the boys’ division, completing a dominant sprint double. He first showcased his explosive power in the 60 metres, clocking a winning time of 7.01 seconds, before returning to outclass the field in the 150-metre dash in 16.36 seconds.

The success continued in the girls’ events as Arima Turner claimed the 60-metre title with a sharp 7.79-second performance. In the middle-distance events, Amaris Munya secured a second-place finish in the 1500 metres in 5:07.00 to bolster the team’s points tally. In the field, Zydon Furbert finished 11th in the shot put with a mark of 8.69 metres.

This collective effort provides a significant momentum boost as the team prepares for the regional championships in March.
