Rideshare plan lacks data, says taxi group

Randy Broadbelt of the BTOA believes Government is progressing its rideshare law without current facts on taxi operations

Taxi drivers are accusing Government of going off half-cocked regarding new rideshare laws.

The BTOA says the move to introduce 150 new de facto taxis – albeit seasonal and app-based only – is being taken without current data to back it up.

Randy Broadbelt, Media Executive at the Bermuda Taxi Owners & Operators Association, told Gary Foster Skelton that they believe the new rideshare laws could fragment the industry further.

He reiterates the BTOA’s position that enforcement has been lacking for years to ensure all taxi operators are providing the service they agreed to provide upon being licensed.
