OBA: It’s time to play or fold on gaming

Is ten years too long to keep spending millions on getting casinos in Bermuda? Opposition Leader Ben Smith says Government needs to ask itself that question…

In the House on Friday, Opposition Leader Ben Smith questioned Premier and Finance Minister David Burt about the decade-long effort to open casinos in Bermuda.

The Premier cited external forces, such as the former US administration, and the fact that there’s only one casino license so far, as reasons why local financial institutions have not been willing to bank casinos yet.

However, after 10 years and more than $16-million spent on the Gaming Commission, Mr Smith told Gary Foster Skelton that it’s cards on the table time…
