Bermudian cyclist Nicholas Narraway delivered a tactical masterclass at the Tour de Murrieta this weekend, securing a hard-fought second place and the coveted King of the Mountains jersey.
In a display of pure grit, Narraway was the primary animator throughout Stage 2 of the Open Pro 1-2 Circuit Race. The young rider dictated the tempo from the off, racking up a series of “primes” before turning his attention to the climbing classification. His strength on the inclines proved unmatched, mathematically securing the KOM title well before the final dash.
The decisive move materialised in the closing stages when Narraway sparked a two-man breakaway alongside Brendan Luongo. By the final lap, the duo held a staggering advantage of one minute and 40 seconds over the chasing pack.
In a high-speed sprint to the finish, Luongo narrowly edged out the Bermudian for the stage win, with Narraway crossing in a gallant second place. Despite the narrow miss on the top spot, Narraway leaves California as one of the standout performers of the weekend, marking a significant statement of intent on the international circuit.
