Bermudian sprinter Madisyn Bobb enjoyed a landmark day as her UMBC Women’s Track and Field team produced a dominant showing at the Dan Stimson Memorial Invitational.
On a day of high-caliber collegiate competition in Newark, the Retrievers combined individual brilliance with collective precision to secure a program record and a string of personal bests.
Bobb continues to establish herself as a vital asset to the UMBC roster. Competing in a stacked 100m dash, the youngster showed impressive explosive power out of the blocks to secure a fifth-place finish.
More significantly, she stopped the clock in a personal best time of 12.52 seconds, slashing her previous mark and signaling her upward trajectory as the outdoor season gathers pace.
The individual success was quickly followed by a podium finish in the relay events. Bobb was entrusted with the third leg of the UMBC 4x100m relay, navigating the crucial final bend to keep the Retrievers in contention.
The quartet delivered a clinical performance to cross the line in 47.78 seconds, securing a hard-fought second place overall.
For Bobb, the combination of a personal record and a relay silver provides a perfect platform as the team prepares for increasingly competitive mid-season meets.
With her top-end speed continuing to improve, the Bermudian remains one to watch as the Retrievers look toward the conference championships.
