In the ILCA 7 division—the largest fleet in the competition—Campbell Patton mirrored that resilience. Patton navigated the testing swell to sit 33rd at the close of play, following a 23rd in the opener with a clinical 12th-place finish in the second.
The day proved more frustrating for Sebastian Kempe, whose campaign suffered an immediate setback with a Black Flag disqualification in race one. However, the young sailor showed his class in the second outing, carving through the fleet to finish 11th. While he sits 99th overall due to the opening penalty, that late surge provides a vital glimmer of hope as the trio prepares for another day of high-stakes tactical warfare in Hyères.
