His Majesty King Charles III opened the Royal Bermuda Regiment’s new coastguard station at Great Bay before departing the island on Saturday
The Royal Bermuda Regiment now have an additional coastguard station in the east end at Great Bay, St. David’s after His Majesty King Charles III attended the official opening ceremony on Saturday morning.
As part of the Royal Visit, King Charles greeted crowds and met members of the RBR to present them with the new station as part of a wider project to bolster resources for Bermuda’s regiment.
The King was accompanied by National Security Minister Michael Weeks, Commanding Officer of the RBR Duncan Simons and other dignitaries for the event.
He later joined an official opening of a future telescope hub in joint partnership with the Bermuda Airport Authority and the UK Space Agency.
The site will be involved in tracking space debris and facilitate British missions with the UK Space Agency.
