The highly anticipated Deloitte Open Tennis and Pickleball Tournament is set to return to the Pomander Gate Tennis & Pickleball Club, marking its place as a premier fixture on the island’s sporting calendar.
The sanctioned event brings together top-tier talent for a week of high-stakes competition and community engagement, with tennis action scheduled from May 30th to June 6th.
This year’s tournament carries extra weight as a vital springboard for the Bermuda Davis Cup Team. Following their historic victory over Georgia in February—which secured Group 2 status for the first time in the nation’s history—the team is preparing to host Mexico this September.
To support the effort, a major fundraiser and BBQ social is being held tonight, May 15th, at 6:00 p.m. at Pomander Gate. Featuring a live auction and raffle, all proceeds will go toward supporting the team as they prepare to bring Davis Cup action back to Bermudian shores for the first time in nearly two decades.
Tournament Director Blair Rance emphasized that the Deloitte Open is “more than just a tournament,” but a celebration of the local tennis community. With entry fees starting at $25, the goal remains to keep the sport accessible to players of all levels across various singles and doubles divisions.
Prospective competitors are reminded that the registration deadline is May 26th, and players must be registered members for the current year with the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA).
