Artists urged to contribute to showcase

The Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA) is inviting artists, performers, cultural organisations, galleries, makers and creative entrepreneurs to take part in Bermuda Art Month this October.

Now in its fourth year, the month-long celebration highlights Bermuda’s vibrant arts and cultural scene through exhibitions, performances, workshops, tours, open studios and other creative experiences for both residents and visitors.

The BTA is encouraging creatives from across the island to begin planning and submitting events for inclusion in the official Art Month calendar.

Jasmine Furbert, the BTA’s Director of Visitor Experiences, said Art Month celebrates the creativity that exists throughout Bermuda while providing artists and organisations with an opportunity to showcase their work to wider audiences.

“Whether you’re an established organisation, an emerging artist, a performer, a maker or a cultural storyteller, we want to help shine a spotlight on the experiences you are creating and connect them with wider audiences,” Ms. Furbert said.

Participating events receive coordinated promotional support designed to increase visibility and attract audiences throughout October.

The BTA is seeking a broad range of creative experiences, including visual arts exhibitions, gallery openings, artist talks, live music, dance and theatre performances, literary events, film screenings, cultural and heritage tours, culinary arts programming, workshops, demonstrations and open studio events.

The initiative also forms part of the BTA’s wider strategy to strengthen Bermuda’s cultural tourism offering by connecting visitors with authentic local artistic experiences. Recent efforts have included showcasing Bermudian artists during Miami Art Week, securing international media coverage in Black Enterprise, and featuring local artwork on digital billboards in New York City’s Times Square through a partnership with Travel + Leisure.

Creatives interested in participating in Bermuda Art Month are encouraged to begin planning their October events. More information is available by contacting experiences@bermudatourism.com.
