Topics of discussion include financial regulation and taxes
The Premier continues his engagements in Europe, supported by the Government of Bermuda’s EU Representative, Ms Aliyyah Ahad and the Government of Bermuda’s Brussels Office.
On Tuesday in Brussels, the Premier met with H.E. Thomas Ossowski, Germany’s Permanent Representative to the European Union, to discuss international economic and regulatory matters. He also held talks with Pierre Wunsch, Governor of the National Bank of Belgium, and senior insurance supervision officials on regulatory cooperation and developments affecting international financial centres.
The day’s programme concluded with a meeting with H.E. Philippe Leglise-Costa, France’s Permanent Representative to the European Union, and members of France’s finance team, during which discussions focused on Solvency II, securitisation, and international tax developments.
On Wednesday, the Premier and delegation met with representatives of the Swiss Mission to the European Union before travelling to Paris to continue their programme of engagements.
While in Paris, the Premier held a series of meetings with leaders from the business, financial and regulatory sectors, including the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Centre for Tax Policy and Administration and the Direction générale du Trésor of the French Ministry of Economics, Finance, Industrial and Digital Sovereignty.
Following Paris, the Premier and delegation will return to Brussels for the 19th annual ABIR International Insurance Dialogue Conference and to continue engagements with EU officials.
