Road fatality toll rises to 13 after South Road collision

Sadly, the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) can now confirm Bermuda’s 13th road fatality of 2026.
A 19-year-old male motorcyclist was seriously hurt after colliding with a car around 11:35am Thursday, 3rd September 2026, at the junction of South Road and Harbour View Drive, Southampton.
Police, Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service, as well as ambulance personnel responded.
Apparently, both vehicles were travelling in the westbound lane of South Road, at the time.
Despite life-saving efforts at the scene and being rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, an on call doctor later pronounced the teen dead at the hospital.
It is understood that the 67-year old male car driver was not hurt.
Traffic in the area was diverted for approximately two hours, while the collision scene was processed.
A BPS Family Liaison Officer is currently assisting the young man’s next of kin, while an investigation regarding the circumstances of this fatal collision is ongoing.
