Bermudian martial artist Kaelin Cox has made a triumphant start on the international stage, capturing gold on the opening day of continental competition in Argentina.
Cox delivered a commanding performance to secure first place in the traditional other southern barehand routine, handing Bermuda their first major title of the tournament.
Displaying crisp precision and technical control, he outpointed a competitive regional field to take the top step of the podium.
The victory comes as the island’s contingent opened campaigns across two concurrent events: the 5th Pan American Kung Fu Championships and the 15th Pan American Wushu Championships.
Beyond the podium success, Bermuda also expanded their technical presence at the championships, with four members of the delegation participating in the official San Da Judges Course.
Cox’s triumph provides an immediate boost for the squad as they look to build on the early momentum throughout the remainder of the week in South America.
