BNG names Green family as Biennial title sponsor

The Greens’ sponsorship begins with the 2026 edition of the Bermuda Biennial

As the 2024 Bermuda Biennial concludes on Saturday, the Bermuda National Gallery (BNG) has announced that the Green family will become the title sponsor of the exhibition starting in 2026.

In a press release, the BNG described the biennial as being “at the core of the contemporary art scene in Bermuda since its inception in 1994.”

The Greens’ sponsorship builds on a long-standing relationship with the gallery, which began with the loan of several artworks for BNG’s first exhibition in 1992. A selection of portraits by Andy Warhol from the Green collection will open at the Gallery in May, marking the fourth large scale exhibition to feature works from the family’s private collection.

Their support extends further with the provision of free bus transportation for all schools to the gallery, courtesy of the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club. This initiative, running for several years, brought over 1,250 students to the gallery in 2024 and will continue through to the end of spring.

In a joint statement, Alexander and Andrew Green expressed their commitment to supporting local artists. “We are proud to continue our partnership with the Bermuda National Gallery in sponsoring their marquee event for Bermudian artists. Bermuda continues to produce exciting artists, and the Biennial provides an opportunity for Bermuda’s best to showcase their work.”
