Community event accepting volunteers and donations

The Gina Spence Program (GSP) is hosting Bermuda’s first-ever Grief and Loss Awareness Day. The main event will be held on Friday, March 7th, 2025, from 12 PM to 2 PM on the front steps of City Hall. The public is invited to attend. Attendees are encouraged to wear orange as they ‘paint the city orange’ in solidarity. The colour orange, according to GSP, symbolises hope and healing. “This day represents a significant step toward fostering a supportive community where grief and happiness can coexist. By participating, you help create a Bermuda where “love lives in every memory.”
A GSP spokesperson says that attendees “can look forward to an inspiring mix of local entertainment, heartfelt remarks from community leaders, and a therapeutic exercise that both honours the journey of grief and celebrates the resilience, hope, and connections that bring us together.”
“Grief touches us all, whether through the loss of loved ones, pets, health, relationships, or careers. With over 40 different types of losses one can experience in a lifetime, this day will honor our shared experiences and promote a culture of hope and healing across Bermuda.”
If you’d like to get involved, GSP says that you can do the following:
- Save the Date: Mark your calendars for March 7th, 2025, and join us on the front steps of City Hall.
- Participate in $5 Grub Day: Encourage your workplace, school, or group to wear orange and donate $5 to support grief services in honor of a loved one.
- Make a Donation: Contributions of any size directly support individuals and families in need of grief counseling and resources.
- Volunteer: Sign up to be part of our volunteer team and help make this event a success.
- Spread the Word: Share this event with your networks and social media platforms using our hashtags: #BGLAD (Bermuda Grief Loss Awareness Day) and #GSP.
