Pedestrian hospitalised with ‘very serious injuries’, says Police

The Bermuda Police Service said that the female pedestrian was unresponsive at the site of the incident in the City of Hamilton

A female pedestrian is currently in hospital after reportedly being struck by a motor car in the City of Hamilton on Sunday evening.

A Bermuda Police Service spokesperson said the incident happened around 7:10 p.m. and emergency responders attended the road traffic collision near the junction of Cedar Avenue and Angle Street.

They said, “it was reported that the female pedestrian was unresponsive.

“She was attended to at the scene by EMTs, before being transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries which are described as very serious.”

Police added that the male driver of the motorcar was arrested under the suspicion of driving while impaired and for being disqualified from driving all vehicles.

The north side of Cedar Avenue has been closed off to all traffic starting at the junctions of Dundonald Street and St John’s Road while officers forensically inspect the scene.

The spokesperson added, “Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes to get their destinations.”

Caution tape was installed across the area of the zebra crossing at Angle Street and Cedar Avenue this evening while officers were processing the scene of the reported incident.
