The end of the road to net-zero, with Bermuda fully powered by renewables, is an ideal destination that many want to reach.
…but it’s not a straight or smooth journey.
For one, renewable energy sources are unreliable and inconsistent when compared to fossil fuels.
At the recent BELCO ‘Energy Equation’ presentation, Managing Director Shelly Leman said batteries are critical for present and future grid stability due to the “volatility that renewables bring”.
Furthermore, Dr Jeffrey Steynor, Director of Energy Transition, provided a recent example from the local energy grid to show how battery storage is a vital for a renewable energy future.
