Bermudians face strong winds at Long Beach Regatta

The Long Beach Olympic Classes Regatta today delivered its signature conditions, with a strong southwest breeze replacing Saturday’s lighter winds. Sailors faced steady 12-15 knot winds, building to gusts of 18 knots by afternoon, providing a true test for the international fleet.

Bermuda has two sailors competing. In the 44-strong ILCA6 Fleet, Adriana Penruddocke is currently in 26th place with 155 net points after nine races, her best finish being a 6th in the fourth race.

In the 52-competitor ILCA7 Fleet, Campbell Patton sits in 25th place with 188 net points after nine races, having achieved a strong 5th place finish in the second race.

Both Bermudian sailors are gaining crucial experience against top international competition as the regatta continues with these challenging conditions.
