Bermuda Abroad: Trott’s Comeback Joy vs. Wells’ Penalty Pain

Football: Mixed bag for Bermudians in action overseas

Nathan Trott and Cardiff City celebrated a dramatic comeback win in League One, while Nahki Wells endured penalty heartache as his Luton Town side suffered defeat.

Goalkeeper Trott helped Cardiff overturn a deficit at the Cardiff City Stadium to secure a crucial 2-1 victory over Reading FC, keeping his side firmly near the top of the table.

In contrast, Wells’ Luton Town fell 2-0 to Mansfield Town FC. The striker had the chance to open the scoring when awarded a penalty at 0-0, but his effort was brilliantly saved by Mansfield’s Liam Roberts—a missed opportunity that proved costly as Luton conceded twice shortly after.

It was a productive day for several Bermudian players across the non-league pyramid.

In the Southern League Premier Central Division, Reggie Lambe’s Needham Market FC earned a comprehensive 3-0 win against Stourbridge, a result matched by Milan Butterfield’s Halesowen Town who swept aside Banbury United 3-0.

Elsewhere, Ayleal Dill had a memorable outing, not only featuring but also captaining his Southwell City side to a 3-0 victory. Coleridge Fubler and Reese Jones Jr. started for Binfield FC as they secured a commanding 4-1 win.

There were wins also for Jutorre Burgess’s Harborough Town (1-0) and Buxton FC (3-2), who had unused substitutes Deniche Hill and Keziah Martin in their squad.

Willie Clemons and Leiston FC drew 2-2, while Roger Lee’s Heanor Town fell 2-0 and Justin Donawa was an unused substitute in Brackley Town’s 0-0 draw.
