Phillips battles in singles before doubles domination

Daniel Phillips experienced a day of mixed results on the opening day of the Division One American Fall Individual Tennis Championships, suffering a singles exit before delivering a commanding performance in the doubles draw.

Representing Tulane University, Phillips faced a challenging outing in the Men’s Singles, going down in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 to Alejandro Jacome from Wichita State University. Phillips was unable to break his opponent’s consistency, leading to an early exit from the singles bracket.

However, the Bermudian swiftly rebounded in the Men’s Doubles. Teaming up with partner Hady El Kordy, the Tulane pair were in dominant form, showcasing seamless teamwork to dismantle the University of South Florida duo of Elijah Cham and Guglielmo Verdese. Phillips and El Kordy cruised to an impressive 8-1 victory, securing their passage into the next round of the competitive doubles tournament.

The focus now shifts entirely to the doubles draw, where Phillips and El Kordy will look to continue their winning run.
