Bermuda’s running community is set to descend on the Botanical Gardens this Sunday as the annual RenaissanceRe 5-Mile and 10-Mile Challenge returns to the South Shore.
The Ministry of Public Works and Environment has issued a formal notice to motorists to exercise caution, with hundreds of participants expected to take part in one of the most popular fixtures on the local road-running calendar.
The action kicks off early on Sunday, April 12th, with the first wave of 10-mile participants departing at 8:00 am, followed by the official race start at 8:30 am and the 5-mile event at 8:35 am. All competitive activity is expected to conclude by 11:00 am.
Both races utilize a loop format along South Road. The 10-mile athletes will push East toward the turnaround point at Paynter’s Road, while the 5-mile contingent will turn at the Spittal Pond West Carpark. All participants will finish at the Lagoon Property, directly opposite the Botanical Gardens’ South Gate.
While no full road closures have been announced, significant traffic control measures will be in place. Race Marshals and Police Officers will be stationed along the route to manage the flow of vehicles and prioritize athlete safety. Motorists are urged to show consideration and follow all official instructions to avoid delays.
