A worker was hospitalized after a fall today at the Fairmont Southampton construction site.
The worker fell from a scissor lift in the vicinity of the warehouse.
A scissor lift is a mobile, motorised platform used to raise workers, tools and materials vertically to elevated work areas.
A Westend Properties spokesman told us this afternoon that the individual was taken to hospital for medical evaluation: “Our understanding at this time is that the worker is receiving medical attention.
“Immediately following the incident, scissor lift operations were suspended pending further review. The project’s health and safety inspector has been engaged, and the contractor is preparing a formal incident report. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being reviewed in accordance with applicable health and safety procedures.”
Westend Properties added the safety and well-being of everyone working on the project remains a priority: “We will cooperate fully with any required investigation and will take any additional measures identified as necessary to ensure a safe working environment. As this review is ongoing, we are not in a position to comment further on the circumstances at this time.”
