Bermuda’s Kyle Hamilton and Brandon Sousa ended their grueling international beach volleyball stint on a high, clinching an impressive 11th-place finish on the final day of the NORCECA Tour in San Salvador.
The Bermudian duo saved their most clinical performance for last, defeating A’jahnai Merchant and De Andrae Taylor of the U.S. Virgin Islands in straight sets (21-14, 21-18) during their classification playoff.
Set 1 (21-14): Hamilton and Sousa asserted early dominance on the sand. Aggressive serving and sharp transition defense forced critical unforced errors from the USVI pairing.
Set 2 (21-18): Merchant and Taylor mounted a spirited block at the net, but Hamilton’s composure up front and Sousa’s backcourt coverage safely navigated a tense finish.
The result provides a major confidence boost and vital ranking points for Hamilton and Sousa as they wrap up this competitive tour phase and look ahead to their next international block.
