Role Overview
Bermuda Broadcasting Company is seeking a resourceful, versatile and self-motivated reporter to cover breaking news, community events and developing stories during evenings and weekends.
Working primarily for our website and app, you will also contribute content to our radio and television news services.
This is a fast-paced, part-time role for someone with a nose for a story, good news judgement and the ability to work independently under pressure. You must be prepared to respond to breaking news at short notice, invariably at unsociable hours.
What we're looking for:
· Natural curiosity and a keen interest in current affairs
· Initiative, resourcefulness and the ability to work independently
· Strong news judgement and an eye for a compelling story
· A willingness to work evenings, weekends and unsociable hours
· Your own reliable transportation
Essential skills
You should be confident in your ability to:
· Shoot and edit video for digital and broadcast platforms
· Take high-quality still photographs
· Report live from the scene, often without a script
· Write clear, engaging and accurate news stories to tight deadlines
· Adapt your reporting for web, app, radio and television audiences
Previous newsroom experience and/or a completed qualification or ongoing studies in journalism, English, or communications would be an advantage.
If you are curious, quick-thinking and passionate about keeping Bermuda informed, we want to hear from you. You can express your interest by uploading your CV and cover letter.
BBC is an equal opportunity employer.
No openings right now, but we'd still like to hear from you. Send your CV and we'll keep it on file for the next role that fits.
