
Bermudian golfers have made a positive start to their campaigns at the Myrtle Beach World Amateur Handicap Championships in South Carolina, highlighted by top-ten opening rounds from Tracy Burgess, Ann Symonds, and Ann Mitchell.
Burgess produced the standout performance of the opening day for the Bermuda contingent, carding a sub-80 round of 79 to sit tied for fifth in Flight 52 of the Women’s Gross division.
In Flight 53 (Women 59 & Under), Ann Symonds positioned herself among the early contenders with an opening-round 82 to finish tied for ninth, while compatriot Angela Cook carded a 91 to end the day tied for 22nd.
- Senior Women (60 & Above): Ann Mitchell carded a solid 90 to sit tied for eighth in Flight 55.
- Mid Senior Men (60–69): Antony Than and Dave Abraham matched each other in Flight 22, both firing identical rounds of 83 to tie for 18th.
- Senior Men (50–59): Richard Marriott posted an 86 in Flight 9 to sit tied for 49th.
Super Senior Men (70–79): Gary Venning opened his tournament in Flight 44, carding a 105 to occupy 48th place.
