A legal framework for restricting single-use plastics is now before legislators – nearly eight years after it was first touted

How long does it take to enact measures intended to protect the environment?

When it comes to restricting single-use plastics… the better part of a decade, it seems.

Plastic shopping bags, plastic straws, knives, forks… these could all be potential targets of legislation tabled on Friday by Jache Adams, Minister of Public Works and Environment.

The law comes after years of successive PLP Governments touting its importance – but it’s still a bow with no arrows…
