Red flag cost Nuff Said opening-race win

Bermuda’s Super Stock contenders experienced contrasting fortunes on a dramatic opening day of the 45th Key West Offshore World Championship, as red-flag controversy cost Nuff Said an emphatic opening-race win in Florida.
Piloted by driver Luis Martins and throttleman Nick Imprescia, the S-12 Nuff Said crew had surged to the front of the pack around the testing four-mile Key West Harbor circuit.
However, when a boat flipped further back in the fleet, race officials brought the Truman Waterfront Cup contest to an immediate halt.
Although Nuff Said crossed the line in first place when the stoppage was called, celebrations proved short-lived. A turn-buoy collision during an aggressive opening battle incurred a mandatory one-lap penalty, dropping the crew to 15th in the official race-one standings.
Compatriots GL Construction Bermuda enjoyed a far smoother run in the S-1 canopy hull. Driver David Selley and throttleman Steven Bridges expertly navigated the choppy conditions to bring the boat home in seventh, securing vital championship points.
The dramatic heats followed a high-energy build-up in Key West, which featured the traditional boat parade down Duval Street, technical scrutineering, and compulsory underwater escape drills.
With heavy points weighting applied across all three heats, both Bermudian entries remain in contention before the fleet returns to the water on Friday ahead of Sunday’s title decider.
