Bermuda is set for a historic royal encounter as the roadmap for the 2026 Commonwealth Games King’s Baton Relay is officially unveiled.
In a unique twist for the Glasgow 2026 Games, each nation has designed its own baton. Bermuda’s version—a three-sided piece handcrafted from sustainable ash wood—will feature a design by a local artist reflecting the themes of culture, nature, and sport.
The week of celebrations kicks off with a community plastic clean-up at Walsingham Trust, followed by the official baton unveiling at Government House on April 27th. Local students will also get a glimpse of the icon during school sports days at the National Sports Centre.
However, the headline event takes place on May 1st. In what BOA President Peter Dunne described as a “historic moment,” Bermuda will have the distinct honour of presenting the baton directly to King Charles III at the Royal Naval Dockyard at 2:00 p.m.
Chef de Mission Donna Raynor, who will lead the delegation to Scotland, expressed immense pride in the project.
“A symbol of unity and sporting excellence, the baton will be displayed during the Opening Ceremony on July 23rd and carried by a designated athlete from our team.”
