Durham & Vikings make history with Senior Day shut-out

Nadhira Durham and her Elizabeth City State teammates delivered a clinical masterclass at the ECSU Tennis Courts, dismantling Virginia Union 7–0 in a record-breaking performance.

On a day reserved for celebrating the program’s seniors, the Vikings refused to drop a single set, securing their seventh win of the season—the program’s best overall return since 2011. The result also marked a decade-high sixth conference victory in the CIAA.

The tone was set early in the doubles flight, where Bermudian standout Nadhira Durham paired with Reichel Freytes at the number one spot. The duo looked sharp in a 6–2 win over Madison Hill and Brianna Velinor, securing the crucial opening point.

Durham’s ruthless form continued into the singles competition. Dominating the number three position, she produced a flawless performance, dismantling Marianna Brooks 6–0, 6–0.

The milestone win served as a perfect send-off for graduating seniors Reichel Freytes, Marley Renner, and Kennedy Rollins. Under head coach Roosevelt Cooper, the Vikings have reached heights not seen in fifteen years, and with Durham finding her peak baseline precision, the team heads into the postseason carrying formidable momentum.
