Lee Terceira’s outstanding run in Florida continued as the Bermudian reached the final of the Blue & Green SWFL Classic in Fort Myers, only for severe weather to deny her the chance to compete for the title.
Seeded second in the USTA Level 6 tournament, Terceira received a first-round bye before producing a dominant run to the championship match. She overwhelmed Dani Betlee 6-0, 6-0 in the quarter-finals before conceding just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 semi-final victory.
The final against 12-year-old British player Anna Korynska promised to be a fitting conclusion, with both players benefiting from extended training blocks at academies in Florida.
Terceira made the stronger start, taking the opening set 6-4, but trailed 2-1 in the second when repeated lightning delays and heavy rain forced play to be abandoned. With Korynska scheduled to leave Fort Myers the following day, the match could not be completed.
Despite the frustrating finish, Terceira’s performances reinforced the progress she has made during a three-week training camp alongside Bermuda’s Davis Cup squad.
Her strong results across the last three tournaments have also lifted her USTA ranking, earning qualification for higher-level Level 5 events as her development continues.
