The Mexican duo claimed the decisive break against Phillips in the fifth game to edge 3-2 ahead, before backing it up with a commanding service hold. When Mallory was broken two games later, the visitors seized total control, calmly serving out the set to take the opener 6-2 with four straight games in the bag.
The momentum carried seamlessly into the second set as Mexico delivered an emphatic masterclass. Phillips was immediately broken to open the frame, and the visitors doubled their cushion with another clean hold.
With Bermuda struggling to counter Mexico’s sharp net coverage and aggressive returns, Mallory’s serve was breached again to make it 3-0. From there, the Mexican pairing offered no route back into the contest, surging through the remainder of the set without dropping a single game.
A final break of the Phillips delivery sealed a 6-2, 6-0 sweep, wrapping up the tie for Mexico with two rubbers to spare and bringing Bermuda’s proud home campaign to an end.
