Department of Statistics reminds residents that completing questionnaires is required by law

As the 2026 Census continues, the Department of Statistics advises members of the public that Census Interviewers will begin visiting private households across Bermuda to complete outstanding Census questionnaires. Interviewers will possess Department-issued photo identification cards and an official letter of authenticity.
The Census began on 21st May 2026, and residents could complete their questionnaires primarily online. Census Interviewers will now visit households that have not yet completed the Census process. Interviews will generally be conducted in the evenings and on weekends when residents are most likely to be at home.
The Department of Statistics encourages residents to cooperate with Census Interviewers when they visit and complete their Census questionnaires. Public participation is essential to ensuring the Census provides an accurate and comprehensive picture of Bermuda’s population and housing. Census information supports Government planning and decision-making in areas including infrastructure, education, health, employment, and other economic and social needs. Effectively planning for Bermuda’s future requires the information from all households to be provided and counted.
Residents are reminded that completing their census questionnaire is required by law and all information collected through the 2026 Census is protected under the Statistics Act 2002 and held in the strictest confidence.
For questions or concerns, contact the Department of Statistics by emailing census@gov.bm, visiting our office at the Cedar Park Centre, 48 Cedar Avenue, Hamilton, weekdays between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. or calling 297-7761.

The Department of Statistics is also reminding reliable, personable individuals who are comfortable speaking with the public to apply to become Census Interviewers. The Department of Statistics thanks residents for their continued cooperation and participation as the 2026 Census progresses.
