The growing number of traffic collisions could be having a diminishing impact on Police enforcement.

This is because the manpower needed to attend and investigate a crash means there are fewer officers watching the roads.

The head of the Roads Policing Unit gives this as a reason why new stats that indicate a reduction in speeding tickets may not be reflective of actual driving behaviour.
