Among alleged culprits: a female clocked at 67kmph on an e-bike
Continued traffic abatement efforts by the Bermuda Police Service (BPS), resulted in more than fifty people being ticketed for various traffic offences on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
Working in conjunction personnel from the Traffic Control Department, the team focused their attention on the western end of the island.
A total of 55 MVTs were issued:
• Speeding – 27 (Highest recorded speed, 90 KMPH)
• Seatbelt offences – 23
• Window tint offences – 4
• No driver’s license – 1
Officers also stopped and ticketed an adult female riding an e-bike clocked at 67 KMPH.
There were two arrests made. The first, involved a twenty-year-old male who was found with a large knife as well as a quantity of suspected drugs.
The other arrest involved a person with five outstanding traffic warrants.
Of the 23 persons ticketed for seatbelt offences, seven were minibus drivers.
Inspector Anthony Smith of the BPS Tactical Operations Division, reminded: “Persons riding electric bikes should be aware that they are subject to the same traffic laws as they relate to speeding for any other vehicle. Persons operating these vehicles can expect to be ticketed if found traveling at excessive speeds.”
