A versatile Bermuda martial arts delegation has touched down in Argentina ahead of the 5th Pan American Kung Fu Championships and 15th Pan American Wushu Championships.
Blending seasoned international podium finishers with rising talent, the team will compete across Traditional Kung Fu, Modern Wushu Taolu, and full-contact San Da (Chinese kickboxing).
Veteran competitor and coach Garon Wilkinson headlines the Traditional Kung Fu squad alongside Kaelin Cox, Jecoa Burrows, Talia Iris, and Jashae Allen-Lamontagne. Cox also pulls double duty in Modern Wushu Taolu alongside Geraldine Sidders, Tristan Robinson, and Yara Robinson, performing intricate barehand forms and weapons routines.
Bermuda’s full-contact medal hopes are spearheaded by decorated international fighter Krista Dyer, who captains a five-strong San Da lineup.
Dyer is joined on the platform by Michael Tristan Burgess, Jacob Goodwin, and multi-discipline competitors Tristan Robinson and Yara Robinson, taking on the top striking and wrestling talent across the Americas.
Off the mat, Bermuda is strengthening its official standing: a six-member delegation—Oscar Lightbourne, Nolette Webb, Chaquita Simmons, Jecoa Burrows, Adriano Lourenco da Silva, and Jason Dill—will take part in the Pan American judges’ certification course, expanding the island’s qualified judging pool on the world stage.
