Singapore-based Shakeem Albouy was visiting Bangkok when disaster struck

Bermudian Shakeem Albouy, currently living abroad in Singapore and working for AXA XL Singapore, experienced firsthand the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Thailand on Thursday, March 28th.
Shakeem was in Bangkok for a short trip, sourcing vintage clothing, when the earthquake hit.
He was shopping at Bang Sue Junction Shopping Center, just a block away from the collapsed high-rise construction site, making the experience even more surreal.
Having never encountered an earthquake before, Shakeem described the moment as both shocking and eye-opening, a stark reminder of how quickly life can change.
He safely flew back to Singapore on Saturday morning but extends his deepest condolences to the families who lost loved ones and all those affected by this tragedy.
