BCB Executive Director weighs in on incidents on the pitch at the 2025 Cup Match Classic
For some, the on-field prowess at the 2025 edition of the annual Cup Match Classic was overshadowed by instances of questionable sportsmanship that extended beyond the traditional banter between rivals. Cal Blankendal, Executive Director of the Bermuda Cricket Board, described the behaviour of certain players and spectators as “disturbing,” adding that it’s time to stop making excuses and introduce greater accountability in the sport.
Mr Blankendal added that beyond performance and commitment, deportment is also taken into account when it comes to national team selection and poor behaviour could impact a player’s place on the team in the future.
