The Ministry of Health is reminding residents that seasonal influenza vaccination is an important way to protect against flu and reduce the risk of serious illness and complications.
The Ministry will offer its annual Flu Express service at three locations in October, providing residents with a convenient way to receive their seasonal flu vaccine.
The 2026 Flu Express schedule is as follows:
Saturday, October 3 – Hamilton Health Centre
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Wednesday, October 7 – St. George’s Cricket Club
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Thursday, October 8 – Boaz Island Community Field, Sandys
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
The Flu Express is available to persons aged 12 years and older. The cost is $20 per shot for adults and children, while seniors aged 65 and older can receive the flu vaccine free of charge. Payment can be made online or by cash at the Flu Express site. Credit and debit card facilities will not be available at the Flu Express locations.
Residents can complete the influenza vaccine consent form and pay online before attending Flu Express to reduce paperwork and wait times. Those who are unable to complete the form online may do so at the Flu Express location. The form is available at forms.gov.bm/Influenza-Vaccine-Consent.
The Ministry of Health encourages people who are at increased risk of complications from influenza, including seniors, healthcare workers, caregivers, essential service workers and people with chronic medical conditions, to make influenza vaccination part of their annual health routine.
“Getting your flu vaccine is a simple but important step we can each take to protect our health, our loved ones and our wider community,” said Minister of Health Kim Wilson, JP, MP. “I received my flu vaccine today, as I do every year, and I encourage residents to make vaccination part of their annual health routine. Influenza can lead to serious complications, particularly for older adults, young children, pregnant women and people living with certain chronic health conditions. The Flu Express makes it convenient for residents to get vaccinated in their communities, and I encourage everyone eligible to take advantage of this opportunity and do their part to help keep Bermuda healthy this flu season.”
Flu vaccination is also available through physicians and the Department of Health. The Ministry recommends influenza vaccination for everyone aged six months and older.
Flu injections at Flu Express will only be provided to individuals who are in good health and do not have an active infection. Residents should dress comfortably to allow easy access to the upper arm for vaccination.
Individuals should speak with their healthcare provider if they have questions about whether the influenza vaccine is appropriate for them.
