Attorney General and Minister of Justice Senator Kim Wilkerson said the treatment of offenders board policies are due for modernisation

Incentives to foster better relations between Corrections staff and inmates could be in the cards as part of wide prison reform, according to the Attorney General.
The news comes after the Prison Officers Association called for more penalties for those convicted of harming corrections officers following an incident late last year.
Senator Kim Wilkerson, the Minister for Justice responded to our questions today and confirmed that an independent review of the Corrrections System is complete.
She said the report is now awaiting finalisation by Cabinet in the next two weeks before the assessment is tabled for debate in parliament.
One of the methods to stemming violence behind bars she said could begin with updates to the treatment of offenders board policies which require modernisation.
Senator Wilkerson further said the safety of corrections officers is high on her priority list confirming that meetings take place with the Prisons Officers Association regularly.
