Mixed fortunes for Bermudian footballers in the UK

Wells Draws Blank, Clemons Wins, Hill Sent Off

A busy day of football across the English leagues saw a mixed bag of results for Bermudian players, highlighted by a clean sheet for Nahki Wells’ Luton Town, a comfortable victory for Willie Clemons’ Leiston FC, and high drama resulting in a straight red card for Deniche Hill.

Nahki Wells and his Luton Town teammates were held to a scoreless draw by Rotherham United at Kenilworth Road. Despite Wells’ continued presence up front, the Hatters could not find the decisive goal, settling for a single point.

Meanwhile, Milan Butterfield and his Halesowen Town FC teammates played out an entertaining 2-2 draw against Spalding United FC at The Grove, sharing the spoils after a closely fought contest.

The most dramatic result came for Buxton United FC, featuring Bermudian Deniche Hill. The team showed immense resilience to fight back from a 2-0 deficit against Southport, drawing level at 2-2. However, the turning point arrived in the 66th minute when Southport was awarded a penalty. Hill was judged to have committed the foul in the area and was shown a straight red card, ending his match early. Southport converted the spot-kick to secure a narrow 3-2 victory.

Willie Clemons and his Leiston FC teammates secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Stamford AFC in their Southern Football League Central Premier match at the Flannery Stadium.

Kane Crichlow was an unused substitute as his Sutton United FC teammates picked up a clean sheet victory, defeating FC Halifax Town 2-0.

Justin Donawa and his Brackley Town side suffered a 2-0 defeat to Altrincham FC in their Enterprise National League battle at the J Davidson Stadium.

Joshua Joseph and his Cheadle Heath Nomads bowed out of the Edward Case Cup following a 2-1 defeat to Sandbach United.
