More mixed results for Bermuda Footballers in the UK

Manchester United reignited their Women’s Super League campaign with a clinical second-half display to overcome Shaun Goater’s Aston Villa. The 4-1 victory at Villa Park, United’s first in three league outings, moves them within a single point of third-placed Arsenal.

The visitors took the lead after 27 minutes through Julia Zigiotti Olme’s direct corner, but Villa responded quickly as Kirsty Hanson restored parity. However, the game shifted dramatically after the interval. Elisabeth Terland restored the United lead 19 minutes from time before Jess Park and Hanna Lundkvist added further goals to seal the points.

Across the English pyramid, it was a landmark weekend for Bermudian talent. In the FA Women’s National League Cup, Kenni Thompson helped Bournemouth AFC Women secure a semi-final spot with a 3-0 win over Swindon. Further north, Aaliyah Nolan continued her prolific form, scoring in Bradford City’s 7-0 rout of Sunderland.

At Loftus Road, QPR goalkeeper coach Dashun Cooper oversaw a 5-0 victory over Chesham United, while Jasmine Spence came off the bench to find the net in Newport Pagnell Town’s 6-0 win. There was less luck for Eva Frazzoni’s AFC Sudbury, who fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat, while Keunna Dill and Trinae Edwards’ FC United of Manchester went down 4-0 to AFC Fylde.
