The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI) welcomed 1,039 guests to its Halloween Party on Saturday, October 31, from noon to 4 p.m. A three-category costume competition was the centerpiece of one of BUEI’s best-attended family events of the year.
Children and parents participated in the costume parade with looks ranging from chilling to clever, and taking home top prizes in three categories: Scariest, Cutest, and Best Family Theme.
Beyond the costumes, guests enjoyed even more Halloween fun with the enchanted dive, a haunted hallway, and games at every turn. What set this event apart is the BUEI difference. A Mad Scientist led hands-on experiments, and an alien dissection turned frights into science. The Ocean Discovery Centre was full of surprises, tricks, and treats for everyone who dared to explore. The result was a true family experience, from the youngest trick-or-treaters to their parents and grandparents.
“We are grateful to every family who came out and made the afternoon such a joy,” said Traci Burgess, Chief Executive Officer of BUEI. “Welcoming guests, sparking curiosity and engaging with the community is at the core of BUEI’s mission. Moments like this connect families to the ocean, to one another, and to science in ways they will remember. This was our biggest Halloween Party to date and proceeds from this annual fundraising event contribute to delivering BUEI’s education programmes and maintaining the Ocean Discovery Centre exhibits. We sincerely thank the community for their contributions and support.”
BUEI also thanks our phenomenal team of staff and volunteers whose dedication makes our events successful.
Festive celebrations continue this month as BUEI prepares to host its first Harbourside Market of the season on Saturday, November 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by the sixth annual Youth Climate Summit from November 16 to 22. Details are available at www.BUEI.org.
