Olympic stars dominate Cambridge Beaches Triathlon

Bermuda’s Olympic duo, Tyler Smith and Erica Hawley, delivered commanding, masterclass performances to sweep the top individual titles at the Cambridge Beaches Triathlon, firmly establishing the distance between the professional elite and the amateur field.

Tyler Smith put on a phenomenal display of speed to claim the Adult Individual Sprint Male championship, clocking a winning time of 54 minutes and 52 seconds (54:52)—nearly five minutes ahead of his nearest rival. Smith’s victory was built on a balanced performance, highlighted by a blistering 10:05 swim and a swift 16:08 run. Jackson Langley (59:26) and Gianluca Bortoli (1:00:08) rounded out the Men’s podium.

In the Women’s race, Erica Hawley proved her class, not only finishing as the top female competitor but also placing an incredible fifth overall in the field. She completed the sprint distance in a time of 1 hour, 1 minute, and 10 seconds (1:01:10), featuring an impressive 17:54 run split. Marie Dore (1:08:13) and Lynsey Palmer (1:09:25) completed the Female podium.

The team events showcased local depth, with the “Tri-ing to beat Tyler” trio—featuring running stars Matt Boys and Sean Trott—securing the Adult All Male Team Sprint win in 58:23. The “JackZanderSkyler” team won the Mixed Sprint in 1:02:33, while the “Bermuda Tri Angels” claimed the Adult All Female category in 1:16:48.
