More than $20,000 in traffic fines were handed down in court this week, with multiple drivers also receiving bans for driving under the influence, according to a social media post by the Bermuda Police Service.

The post, shared today, serves as a stern warning to motorists, emphasising the financial and legal consequences of reckless driving.

“We’re sure you’d much rather spend your hard earned cash on something you’d enjoy. In that case, slow down, obey traffic signs, fasten your helmet, buckle your seatbelt and put down the phone,” police wrote.

In addition to the substantial fines, several individuals have been banned from driving due to DUI offences.

The statement added: “Don’t let that be you. Do not operate any vehicle, even a pedal cycle, if you’ve been drinking or have used any mind altering substance.”
