Police seize weapons, suspected drugs and stolen motorcycle on Front Street

The two suspects were apprehended after witnesses reported suspicious activity during the Bermuda Day parade

Police officers arrested two people on Friday during the Bermuda Day festivities in the City of Hamilton after being alerted by the public.

According to the Bermuda Police Service, members of the public alerted officers that two individuals were acting suspiciously and when they were approached, they gave chase.

The pair were eventually apprehended by officers near the number eight parking lot on Front Street.

A spokesperson said on social media, “Two knives were were seized from the suspects one of whom was found in possession of a quantity of what we believe to be controlled drugs.

“It turns out the bike on which they were traveling was stolen.”

The BPS went on to thank members of the public who reported the individuals.

They added, “…you may just have helped avert an unfortunate situation.

“Just goes to prove what can be accomplished when the community and police work together.”
