Bermuda takes the spotlight next week as hosts of a historic visit by His Majesty King Charles III.
His Majesty was last in Bermuda 56 years ago. Governor Andrew Murdoch said Government House is busily curating the King’s tour that will mark several firsts.
It will be His Majesty’s first visit as Monarch, his first visit to any Overseas Territory as Soverign and the first visit to Bermuda by a King.
His Excellency Governor Andrew Murdoch said the King is looking forward to celebrating the island and meeting Bermudians who are part of youth, culture and sustainability organisations.
And there’s plenty of opportunities to get involved. The first official engagement will be in St. George’s Town Square with the Royal Bermuda Regiment and then a tour of BAMZ and Trunk island to explore local conservation work.
The King will meet dignitaries and local artists at the City Hall in Hamilton and tour the Royal Naval Dockyard next Friday.
On the final day, His Majesty will open the new Grape Bay Coastguard station before moving on to Cooper’s Island to learn more about the planned intallation of telescopes before his departure.

Friday 1st May
AM
- The programme will start in King’s Square, St George’s, where His Majesty will be received by the Royal Bermuda Regiment and dignitaries before proceeding to St Peter’s Church.
- The King will then travel to the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo, and Trunk Island to learn about local nature and protection of wildlife and celebrate the BAMZ’s 100th anniversary.
PM - The King will start the afternoon at City Hall and Arts Centre, Hamilton,
where he will meet dignitaries and some of Bermuda’s artists and artisans. - The King will proceed to Albuoy’s Point, Hamilton, before travelling onwards
to spend the early afternoon at Royal Naval Dockyard. - His Majesty will proceed to The Keep at the National Museum of Bermuda,where he will be greeted by the National Gombey Troupe and visit the Queen’s Exhibition Hall/1850 Ordinance House.
- Finally, at dockyard he will meet Commonwealth athletes in advance of the summer Glasgow Commonwealth Games as well as members of Youth organisations from across the island.

- The King will return to the East, where His Majesty will formally open the
Great Bay Coast Guard Station, St David’s. - His final stop is at Cooper’s Island where The King will learn about a new the
telescope project and how it will contribute to the mitigation of space debris.
