Sir John Swan’s funeral set for June 24

The funeral service for Bermuda National Hero and former Premier Sir John William David Swan, KBE, JP, will be held on Wednesday, June 24, at 2 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity on Church Street in Hamilton.

Sir John, who passed away recently, is remembered as a transformative leader whose contributions helped shape modern Bermuda. He is survived by his children Alison, Amanda, Paul, and Nicholas, along with grandchildren, extended family, and many close friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Lady Jacqueline A.D. Swan.

Due to limited seating at the cathedral, members of the public are encouraged to participate in celebrating Sir John’s life through live-stream viewing locations at Pier Six, Cathedral Hall, and the Earl Cameron Theatre. The service will also be available to watch from home via CITV’s live stream.

Cathedral doors will open for public seating at 1:15 p.m. A private interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Salvation Army in Sir John’s memory.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Pearman Funeral Home.
