The Women’s Resource Centre marked International Women’s Day with a celebration honouring women of all ages and their contributions to the community. The event, hosted by Patrina O’Connor-Paynter, also recognized two outstanding women with special awards. We spoke with the teen award recipient, Callahj Simons, Head Girl at The Berkeley Institute, who shared her thoughts on receiving the honour.
The celebration also recognized this year’s International Woman of the Year, an award presented to Latisha Lister-Burgess for her contributions and leadership within the community. During the event hosted by the Women’s Resource Centre, Ms Lister-Burgess expressed her appreciation for the recognition and reflected on the importance of uplifting and empowering women.
